Visual Literacy

Visualization TableA few days ago I came across the most fascinating webpage called “Periodic Table of Visualization Methods.” It is formatted to look like the periodic table of elements, but each element is a type of visual. The table is impressive enough, but when you mouse over each element, an example of the type of visual pops up. This is very cool.

  1. This is really great… People here like to impress each other and having this in my back pocket can help me interpret what visual strategy they’re talking about. Of course, the ones in German (?) here are a bit tougher to understand…

  2. Hmmm, good point. Well, if you can’t read the German, you can just go to translate.google.com and translate the words. Isn’t the web amazing? Here’s another alternative … if you’ve got an iPhone you can just download the translator app and use that. I’m going to guess that you are quite familiar with both of these resources because, as I recall, you were always right on top of all the latest geek stuff.

Great to see you online, Jeannie, and great to see that you are reading my blog! I don’t keep up with blogging often enough. Actually having people I know leave comments is a good incentive to blog more often. :)
